Join a Teams meeting as a guest

As a guest, you have two options for joining a Teams meeting: from an MS Teams app (if installed on your computer), or from your web browser.

Access from the MS Teams app

You will need this installed on your computer.

  • Go into your Outlook this is a reference calendar and click on the Join now button next to the meeting, or if you cannot see this, follow the link included in the calendar invite that you were sent.
  • This should open up a window in your default browser, asking if you want to join the meeting from the web app, or if you want to Open Microsoft Teams
  • Click on the Open Microsoft Teams, this should open the meeting in your Teams App.
  • You can turn your camera on and off, depending on your preferences, using the slide button. You also have the option to blur or change your background if you wish to do so, using the slide button in the middle.

Tip

We recommend that you are logged in as an RCPCH guest, if you are already a member of an RCPCH team, as this will allow you to access any files shared during the meeting. However, you will not be able to share any files as a Guest,  so make sure to email any files you want to share with your contact at RCPCH.

From your web browser

If you do not have the Teams app installed to your computer, you can simply join via the web app, ie through your web browser (such as Google Chrome, Safari, Edge or Mozilla Firefox).

  • Simply click on the on the Join Microsoft Teams Meeting link in the calendar invite that you have been sent. If you do not have access to a computer, you can also join by phone, using the phone number and conference ID included in the invite.

Select Join Microsoft Teams Meeting from the email

  • This should open up a window with options to join the meeting

Select the right button, Join on the web instead

  • If you choose to Join on the web instead, you will be prompted to enter your name, before joining. You may also need to adjust your Camera or Audio, which you can do from the settings option.
  • When you are ready, click Join now.
  • Depending on the meeting settings, you will immediately join the call, or wait in the lobby until someone from RCPCH admits you.
