MS Teams

What can I do in MS Teams?

As a Guest in an RCPCH team, you will have almost the same permissions as an RCPCH member of staff would have. You can contribute to the Teams and Channels that you are part of, chat and call with individuals from the Teams your are part part of, attend meetings.

I already use MS Teams in my organisation. How do I switch between my organisation tenancy and RCPCH tenancy?

A Microsoft ‘tenancy’ represents an organisation. The College has a tenancy, and your NHS Trust, workplace or other organisation may also have a tenancy.

Switching between tenancies is very easy. Simply click on the drop-down showing the tenancies you are part of, and then select the relevant tenancy.

Will I receive any message notifications if I am not logged into the RCPCH tenancy?

No. You will need to switch to the RCPCH tenancy to view any messages or posts.

I’m not receiving notifications for new posts. What should I do?

It’s possible that you have not turned on the notifications for the Teams that you are part of. You can do this by going into the Team that you wish to turn on the notifications for, click on the three dots (…) in the General section, click on Channel Notifications and edit your preferences.

Can I join meetings without being logged in to Teams?

Yes, you can join via meetings anonymously via the web app.

I tried sharing my screen in a live event, but I can’t see the option to share my screen. What should I do?

It is possible that you joined the event as an attendee. Contact the live event organiser and ask them to send you the link to join as a presenter, if you cannot find it anymore?

Can I present live events without being logged in to Teams?

No, you cannot present live events without being logged in to Teams. You will also need to join the event via the desktop app to be able to present. Joining with your phone or via the web app will not allow you to present a live event.

Why can’t I share files in chats?

Microsoft Teams does not allow Guests to Share files in Chats. You can post those files in a Teams channel, or if you do not want everyone to see it, email it to the person you want to share this with.

Why can’t I access files in meetings?

If you join a call anonymously, you will not be able to view any of the files. This is because all the files are saved on our One Drive, which is not available to people outside the College, or that are not on our tenancy.
